The Cashier plays a crucial role in facilitating smooth customer transactions at the front registers. This position demands a commitment to maintaining cash control, ensuring customer satisfaction, and protecting company resources. Cashiers are expected to assist customers as necessary while exhibiting a friendly and energetic attitude. Adherence to all procedural guidelines established by the Front End Department is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducts a store walkthrough before each shift to stay informed about promotional and sale items; performs produce checks and weekly evaluations.

• Calculates bills, itemized lists, and tickets that detail the total amount due.

• Accepts payments via cash, checks, credit cards, gift cards, or automatic debits.

• Issues receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks, or change to customers as needed.

• Operates the cash register by scanning price-coded items, entering PLU or UPC codes manually, compiling printed lists, and displaying the total cost, tax, and rebates on the monitor screen.

• Welcomes customers entering the store and promptly addresses their needs.

• Maintains clean and organized checkout areas, ensuring no personal items are present.

• Distributes coupons and rain checks.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.
