Seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Adult Congenital Heart Disease Physician

The Karl and Patricia Betz Congenital Heart Center at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Adult Congenital Heart Disease physician to join its experienced staff. The ACHD program is fully accredited and has a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive subspecialty cardiac and psychosocial services to a large population of patients throughout Michigan.

Helen DeVos Children's Hospital is a nationally ranked, state-of-the-art dedicated children's hospital, part of the Corewell Health system. It is physically attached to adult medical services at Corewell Health - West Michigan, including Butterworth Hospital and the Meijer Heart Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Care for ACHD patients in outpatient and inpatient settings, including consultative support for post-operative care
  • Work with CHC leadership on expanding services for improved access for ACHD patients
  • Participate in the interpretation of advanced cardiac imaging (CMR)
  • Involvement in QI/performance improvement and research
  • Training and expertise in advanced cardiac imaging, including CMR, with expectation to supervise and report CMR studies
Program Highlights:
  • The ACHD program is fully accredited and credentialed, aligning with current standards
  • The ACHD program is part of the Betz CHC, with outpatient services co-located but separate from pediatric services
  • ACHD seamlessly integrates with the pediatric CHC program via an exceptional transition program
  • Although administratively based in the Children's Hospital, inpatient ACHD patient care is located throughout Spectrum Health, including the adjoining Frederick Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute
  • The ACHD team is partnered with adult cardiology services at the Meijer Heart Center for VAD support and heart and lung transplantation
  • The ACHD team includes 2 full-time ACHD physicians and a cardiothoracic surgeon with over 30 years of experience in ACHD care, along with 5 ACHD board-certified pediatric cardiologists providing subspecialty expertise
Basic Qualifications:
  • Education - MD/DO, Pediatric Cardiologist with training in Adult Congenital Cardiology
  • BC/BE candidates in ACHD
  • Licenses - Medical License in State of MI, Federal Narcotics License from the State of Michigan
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
