Your Role:

We are seeking a skilled Roadway Engineer who will be involved in the full spectrum of roadway engineering projects - from conception through completion. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, analyzing, and evaluating roadways to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with NCDOT standards and guidelines.

  • You'll leverage your expertise in infrastructure design and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies.
  • This position will use your experience while developing new skills to assist clients through our cross-functional team dynamic and company culture.
  • Responsibilities include performing analysis and design for various types of roadways, leading and overseeing roadway design and analysis projects, analyzing traffic patterns, reviewing and approving design plans, coordinating with public and governmental agencies, preparing and reviewing technical engineering reports, drawings, and specifications, and ensuring projects adhere to budgetary and scheduling constraints.
  • You'll also conduct field inspections and evaluations of existing roadway conditions, troubleshoot and resolve issues during construction, provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Engineers and staff, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of State DOT/DOH policies, guidelines, and industry best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

We're looking for an individual with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, preferably with a Master's degree (MSCE). Any level of experience in roadway engineering, particularly with State DOH/DOT projects, is essential. You should possess strong knowledge of NCDOT design standards, specifications, and procedures, proficiency in roadway design software such as Civil 3D, OpenRoad Designer, excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
