Position Overview

SECURITY SUPPORT SPECIALIST

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Security Support Specialist to become a vital member of our team at Homes for the Homeless (HFH). This role is essential in maintaining a safe and secure environment for families in our care. As a Security Support Specialist, you will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure the well-being and comfort of the families we serve. A valid NYS Security License is required upon hiring.

Homes for the Homeless operates facilities designed to support families facing homelessness in NYC. Our residences offer more than just shelter; they provide access to a variety of onsite programs aimed at empowering families during their stay and beyond. Our mission is to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct regular patrols of both interior and exterior premises.
  • Manage the entry and exit of residents by maintaining accurate sign-in logs and verifying identification.
  • Uphold facility rules and regulations.
  • Document incidents and report any hazardous conditions.
  • Familiarize yourself with fire safety protocols and assist during fire drills.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist in critical situations within the facility.
  • Remain vigilant at your post, which may require extended periods of standing.
  • Assist with emergency situations, such as snow removal or spill clean-up.
  • Be prepared for mandatory overtime, including potential double shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of a valid NYS Security Guard License.
  • Completion of the current 8-hour training course.
  • Completion of the 16-hour training course.
  • Fire Guard (F-2) or Fire Safety Coordinator certification is advantageous and must be obtained within two months of employment.
