About This Opportunity

The Vector Control Operator I plays a crucial role in protecting County citizens from mosquito populations and the diseases they may carry. This position performs semi-skilled work in vector control, water management, and beaver management, including surveillance, larviciding, adulticiding, biological controls, trapping, and ditching to manage mosquito and beaver populations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties for Vector Control and Water Management Divisions to protect County citizens from mosquito populations and the diseases they may carry.
  • Conduct surveillance, larviciding, adulticiding, biological controls, trapping, and ditching to manage mosquito and beaver populations.
  • Operate equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Work in strenuous environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Meet physical demands of the job, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects and materials.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Five to eleven months of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required within 1 year of employment.
  • Category B pesticide applicators license must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
