Job Summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled CDL Class B Driver to operate front-end trucks and provide waste management services to residential and commercial customers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for safely collecting and transporting waste and recyclables, while ensuring excellent customer service and adhering to company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate Front-End Trucks: Drive commercial frontload or ancillary equipment along designated routes to collect solid waste and transport it to post-collection facilities.
  • Customer Service: Interact with customers and/or the general public along the route to answer questions or respond to requests, and notify supervisors of any issues requiring management action.
  • Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, complete and submit a vehicle condition report at the end of the shift.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and submit a logbook, daily route/productivity sheet, and vehicle condition report as required by law or company policy.
  • Safe Operation: Follow safe operating practices, including lock out/tag out procedures, to ensure proper operation of the truck and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements:
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Possess a valid CDL and meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year commercial truck driving experience or CDL school certificate.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell, with the ability to regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  • Environmental Factors: Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy, extreme hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Work Environment: Work in outdoor environment up to 100% of the time, with occasional work in high precarious places and motor vehicle traffic conditions.
