About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our smart home products. Your expertise will be crucial in meeting and exceeding requirements in areas such as power consumption, battery life, physical size, RF performance, and usability.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for smart home products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype, implement, and deploy products
  • Own high-level hardware system architecture and schematics
  • Build, assemble, and test initial product prototypes
  • Board bring-up and debugging
  • Interact with mechanical and firmware engineers to implement requirements
  • Maintain BOMs, schematics, layouts, and other relevant documentation
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience as an electrical engineer with a proven track record of shipping products
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including digital and analog
  • Experience with schematic entry and PCB layout software
  • Experience with low power electronics and optimizing power consumption
  • Skilled in using lab benchtop equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power meters, battery analyzers)
  • Experience hand-building and testing prototypes (hand soldered/reflow)
  • Self-motivated, capable of working quickly and independently on small teams, and excited to solve complex problems
  • Excellent communication skills, including to non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ME 3D data formats and 3D printer experience
  • Familiarity with design for ESD and test procedures
  • RF-related design experience or familiarity: BLE/LoRa/WiFi layout and matching
  • Cadence/Allegro layout experience
  • Basic Python scripting and firmware skills for testing
