Summary:

The Machine Operations Specialist is tasked with overseeing the functionality of machinery to guarantee consistent and safe operation while producing high-quality products at optimal efficiency. This role involves identifying and resolving basic machine issues and effectively communicating with the maintenance team. Additionally, the Specialist is responsible for reporting any concerns to their supervisor or Production Manager. Data collection and documentation related to production metrics are also key responsibilities.


Essential Functions:

Responsible for operating machinery, preventing and resolving jams, weighing finished products, and documenting weights and downtime. Must adhere to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines. Communicates effectively with the shift lead and/or Production Manager regarding any operational issues. May also lead fellow team members and material handlers in the workflow process. Capable of troubleshooting machinery and occasionally performing duties as a Material Handler and Material Sorter.


Minor Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness in the designated work area with assistance from colleagues.

Qualifications for the job:
Strong communication and troubleshooting skills, along with basic mathematical abilities. Experience with conveyor-fed machinery or recycled materials is advantageous. Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs multiple times throughout the day and perform tasks that require sitting, climbing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for writing and handling materials.

Key Competencies:
Comprehension of process flow and its significance. Critical thinking skills to enhance safety and efficiency. Proficient in basic math and capable of operating forklifts and other heavy machinery. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Competent in directing machine operations and communicating respectfully with team members to achieve objectives.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to work on production machinery, including climbing, bending, crouching, stooping, and lifting up to 70 pounds. Work environment includes exposure to loud machinery, necessitating the use of hearing protection, hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, dust masks, and high-visibility clothing.
