PURPOSE
The objective of this role is to provide assistance during the academic intervention sessions for students enrolled in the Extended Reading Intervention program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is integral to the Extended Reading Intervention program at elementary schools. The primary duty of an employee in this role is to facilitate intervention for students participating in the ERI program. The position operates under the direct supervision of a teacher, with guidance from the building Principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Deliver literacy-focused intervention support as directed by the ERI Coordinator or classroom teacher;
- Offer additional student assistance as determined by the ERI Coordinator;
- Engage with students in one-on-one, small group, or whole group settings as specified by the ERI Coordinator or classroom teacher;
- Execute all work responsibilities in alignment with District policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Knowledge of:
- Fundamental educational procedures and objectives, including instructional methods, preparation of teaching materials, behavior management, and student-teacher interactions;
- Demonstrated competence, empathy, and understanding regarding the diverse needs and cultures of students.
- Adhere to written and verbal instructions while observing district policies and procedures;
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, school, and parents;
- Operate classroom instructional equipment, standard office tools, and a personal computer using relevant software;
- Establish and sustain collaborative working relationships with students, teachers, staff members, and other district personnel;
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
- Exhibit integrity and creativity in the execution of assigned tasks.
- Must possess Highly Qualified status: have 32+ college credits, hold a college degree, or achieve a passing score of 460+ on the Paraprofessional Assessment;
- Must have a valid Idaho Driver's license and a vehicle for job-related transportation.
- Ability to communicate effectively and discern verbal conversations with or without reasonable accommodation;
- Visual acuity to comprehend written work and prepare documents;
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and operate office equipment;
- Personal mobility and flexibility to work in an office environment, including lifting objects up to 20 lbs.;
- Job tasks may require climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
Performance will be assessed by the building principal in accordance with the Board's evaluation policy.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
To be determined by the calendar year. Regular attendance is a crucial function of this role.
- Employment with the District is "at will," meaning either the employee or the District may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice.
