As a Medical Assistant at TOA, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of our clinics. This position collaborates closely with our clinical and administrative teams to ensure that our patients receive exceptional service. Our Medical Assistants are driven by a genuine compassion for patient care and are dedicated to maintaining smooth operational workflows. Key responsibilities include:

  • Escorting patients from the waiting area to examination rooms with courtesy.
  • Collecting patient medical histories, noting chief complaints, measuring vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and treatments.
  • Reviewing patient records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Preparing necessary equipment and supplies for clinical procedures, including aspirations, injections, and X-rays.
  • Administering injections and assisting with the removal of casts, splints, and dressings as directed by the physician.
  • Preparing prescriptions as instructed by the physician.
  • Assisting in the scheduling of tests and treatments.
  • Coordinating patient surgeries, including scheduling, verifying insurance coverage, and obtaining pre-certifications as needed.
  • Responding to inquiries from patients and payors via phone.
  • Ordering and maintaining clinical and office supplies and equipment.
  • Maintaining patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and documenting as required.
  • Engaging in professional development activities and maintaining relevant professional affiliations.

Qualifications:

  • Current and unencumbered Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized third-party organization.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a medical assistant; experience in an orthopaedic setting is advantageous.
  • A strong commitment to enhancing the patient experience, demonstrating compassion and excellent care.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic, with the ability to efficiently manage patient flow while maintaining focus on care quality.
  • Adaptable to the dynamic nature of the healthcare environment.
  • Reliable and punctual, ensuring timely patient care delivery.
  • CPR certification is required.
