SSM Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Nurse Specialist to join our team at DePaul Hospital. As a key member of our surgical services team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for surgical patients.
Responsibilities and Requirements- Accept patient care assignments and communicate effectively with clinical area team members.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, utilizing subjective and objective data, and communicate findings to patients and families.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, prioritizing patient needs and involving patients and families in the planning process.
- Provide high-quality nursing care, administering medications, treatments, and interventions as per hospital policy.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and coordinate post-operative care.
- Document patient care and responses to care in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and evidence-based care.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education. No experience required.
Physical RequirementsConstant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
Required Professional Licenses and CertificationsBasic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA). Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) or equivalent.
