Job Title: Special Education Resource Teacher

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Resource Teacher to join our team at Danbury Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring their intellectual, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Use diagnostic instruments to measure student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Utilize data management systems to track student progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Administer specialized tests and interpret results to inform instruction.
  • Deliver content using specialized instructional materials and strategies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Perform observations to collect diagnostic data and inform instruction.
  • Participate in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings to develop and implement IEPs.
  • Consult with classroom teachers and related services staff to ensure student progress and program effectiveness.
  • Maintain open communication with administration, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Develop and implement individual, classroom, and school-wide behavioral plans for students with special needs.

Requirements:
  • Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut Special Education certification (065, 165).
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to deliver content.
  • Ability to relate successfully with staff, families, and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement differentiated instruction and build upon the strengths and challenges of a multi-cultural and multi-racial classroom/district.
