Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the inspection, nondestructive testing, and metrology departments, ensuring that all inspections are properly performed and that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms are executed.
Key Responsibilities- Assist, supervise, and direct all personnel assigned to the inspection, nondestructive testing, and metrology departments.
- Maintain a current file of pertinent FAA specifications and Airworthiness Directives.
- Ensure proper handling and preservation of all units or parts during the repair process.
- Make available to his/her area the necessary repair and overhaul manuals, service bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, and other required technical data.
- Provide adequate equipment, material, and competent personnel pertinent to the operation of Quality.
- Collect and maintain a file on work orders and inspection forms in such a manner that the specific file pertaining to an assembly or unit can be located within a reasonable length of time.
- Direct, plan, and lay out details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by ALGS in complying with all applicable FAA Regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Ensure that no defective, unapproved, or un-airworthy parts are installed in any component or unit released by ALGS.
- Establish and modify the repair station policies, procedures, instructions, and information as related to the repair station inspection needs.
- Ascertain that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work before it is released to the customer, and that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms used by this repair station are properly executed.
- Ensure that shift turnover procedures are followed and properly documented.
- Ensure proficiency of inspection personnel.
- Assist, supervise, and train the receiving inspectors.
- Maintain a system of keeping records of checks and calibration of inspection tools and precision test equipment and taking steps to ensure that the established check periods are not exceeded.
- Ensure preliminary, hidden damage, inspection continuity, and final inspection of all items processed by ALGS.
- Ensure that rejected and unserviceable parts, after proper identification, are returned to the customer or, with the customer's permission, are properly disposed of.
- Maintain the "Roster of Supervisory and Inspection Personnel" and "Delegation of Authority Roster" in a current state.
- Ensure that all materials subject to shelf-life are properly controlled, inspected on a regular basis, and removed from service when the shelf-life expires.
- Identify, control, segregate, and maintain all stock and tools to a serviceable or unserviceable category.
- A minimum of 10 years of previous experience in the airline industry is required.
- A minimum of 5 years in a quality/inspection role, preferably in an MRO environment.
- Knowledge of FAR 145 regulations.
- AS9110 or ISO equivalent experience highly recommended.
- High School Diploma or an Equivalent.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient in the English language.
- Required to have an Airframe and Powerplant License or obtain a repairman's certificate with the company.
- Must Successfully complete a comprehensive background check.
- This position is safety sensitive and adheres to DOT drug and alcohol regulations.
- Strong leadership and effective decision-making skills.
- Attention to detail and strong negotiating skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff from different departments effectively.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to prioritize workload according to business demands.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting at desk. Must be able to use hands and arms for repetitive movements, such as movement of wrists, hands, fingers while typing.
- Will be required to inspect parts in a shop setting.
- May occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and function as a member of the team.
- Must exhibit a high level of confidentiality with work product.
