JOB OVERVIEW

The Video Support Center (VSC) operates as a dynamic 24/7 technical team dedicated to the remote assistance of all video transport systems and devices within Wave's Video Operations. This team is at the forefront of national and regional video device support, collaborating with a group of engineers focused on swiftly resolving and mitigating video-related issues across the entire service area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the restoration of video and operational challenges escalated from the Network Operation Centers, employing troubleshooting techniques and providing technical solutions to operational problems.
  • Intermediate configuration and support of sophisticated video equipment including SDV/VOD, interactive cable set-top box controllers, multiplexers, MPEG transport, and edge QAMs.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation outlining processes and procedures utilized in standard video operations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal engineering teams to efficiently address and resolve issues.
  • Monitor and update progress and details in the trouble ticketing system while troubleshooting and executing corrective actions.
  • Consistently support all initiatives aimed at promptly mitigating issues and restoring customer services.
  • Formulate problem resolution procedures necessary to meet serviceability standards.
BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Video Engineering, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in video or network engineering.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in maintaining and troubleshooting video delivery systems or applications.
  • Two (2) years of experience providing internal/external technical support in a video technical environment.
  • Availability to work the following shift: Wednesday through Saturday from 8 PM to 7 AM.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Capability to work with remote video equipment and a proactive approach to learning various video systems, devices, and architectures in a fast-paced environment focused on quick restoration.
  • Understanding of MSO video network architecture, data networking, system operations, and HFC cable systems is essential.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of interactive set-top controller systems and their components, including technologies such as Switched Digital Video (SDV) and Video on Demand (VOD).
  • Operational experience with building, grooming, and troubleshooting various linear and NextGen/OTT/TVE multiplexing, encoding, and transcoding platforms.
  • Intermediate understanding of video acquisition, transcoding/encoding, multiplexing, and modulation platforms.
  • Basic or intermediate experience with MPEG monitoring tools.
  • Basic or intermediate experience with Edge QAMs.
  • Familiarity with Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and support methods over IP, including Live & Smooth Streaming technologies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant certifications such as SCTE BTCS, SCTE Fundamentals of SDV, Digital Video and MPEG, or CCNA are advantageous.
  • Linux or Red Hat certification or experience is a plus.
  • Experience with IP multicast video in cable Headends and industry vendors is beneficial.
  • Proven experience in technical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
