Elgin Separation Solutions is seeking a skilled Precision Machinist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the highest quality of our machining operations.

Job Summary
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions on projects that prioritize both client satisfaction and safety, while also being cost-effective for all stakeholders involved.

Key Responsibilities
1. Independently set up and operate various machining equipment, including Vertical Turret Lathes, Drill Presses, and Surface Grinders.
2. Complete machine setups and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with stringent quality standards.
3. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on the machine.
4. Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
5. Verify the conformance of finished workpieces to specifications, maintaining required tolerances of +/- .005 to .010.
6. Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.

Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in a job shop or repair environment.
- Proficient lathe operation skills along with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, control plans, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, as well as sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Capability to create jigs and fixtures for unconventional repairs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of machining practices, measurement and evaluation skills, and tooling applications.
- Strong attention to detail.
