People USA is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our compassionate team. This position is centered around offering support and advocacy to individuals navigating challenges related to mental health, substance use, or social factors affecting their well-being.

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will leverage your personal experiences to foster connections and assist others on their path to improved behavioral health and overall wellness. Your role will encompass education, advocacy, and resource connection to ensure individuals receive the support they need.

• Identify and prioritize individuals for program involvement to ensure timely and effective services
• Engage with various agencies and stakeholders associated with support initiatives
• Articulate the peer perspective and pursue additional funding opportunities for essential programs

To excel in this role, candidates should demonstrate integrity, respect for diversity, an understanding of community resources, and effective time management abilities. A high school diploma is mandatory.

• A minimum of two years in recovery from an acute care setting
• Completion of pertinent training and certification
• Experience in peer support or advocacy, either professionally or as a volunteer
• Familiarity with community support services
• Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems
• Professional demeanor and communication skills
• Proficiency in English; Spanish fluency is advantageous
