Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Analyze Estimates: Create detailed estimates and work plans, researching materials, sourcing options, labor, mechanical takeoff, construction equipment, and general conditions costs for projects.
  • Collaborate with Contractors and Vendors: Work with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain and negotiate sub-tier estimates.
  • Review Drawings and Specifications: Review project drawings, specifications, and site conditions, recording findings and soliciting input from field operations to include in final project estimates.
  • Analyze Alternative Solutions: Examine alternative solutions and construction methods to increase the competitiveness of bids.
  • Develop and Review Takeoff Quantities: Create and review takeoff quantities to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates.
  • Apply Advanced Analytical Processes: Utilize mathematical calculations to ensure logically estimated costs are accurate.
  • Present Estimates and Participate in Bid Reviews: Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with senior management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate with Field Operations: Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at preconstruction meetings to ensure understanding of scope of job and critical means and methods of construction.
  • Develop Business Relationships: Develop and maintain business relationships to increase bid opportunities in the regional market.
  • Participate in Design-Build Preconstruction Services: Participate in and/or lead Design-Build preconstruction services to ensure high-quality, competitive estimates and schedules.
Requirements
  • 8 Years of Related Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in estimating, with prior management experience required.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Estimating Software: Proficiency in estimating software and civil/industrial engineering principles.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on safety-first decision making and a strong work ethic.
