Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Yard Jockey to join our team at US 1 Shorthaul. As a Yard Jockey, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers in and out of our dock using yard goats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately perform yard audits at the end of each shift to ensure trailers are properly secured and accounted for.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify any issues or damage.
  • Properly request and complete trailer moves in our Yard Management System (YMS).
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for safety-sensitive functions within the yard.
  • Responsible for drop and hook operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Possess a team-player attitude and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and demonstrate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to request and complete trailer moves in the Yard Management System (YMS).
  • Attention to detail and ability to accurately perform yard audits.
