Oasis Ascent, a leading provider of short-term residential treatment programs for teenagers, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Development Specialist to join our team.
Job SummaryThe Youth Development Specialist will work closely with adolescent residents to provide guidance, support, and mentorship as they navigate their way to recovery. This role requires a strong understanding of adolescent development and common mental health disorders, as well as excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities- Build Rapport and Provide Emotional Support: Establish a positive and supportive relationship with adolescent residents, providing emotional support and guidance as needed.
- Assist with Daily Routines: Assist residents with daily routines, ensuring they follow their treatment plans and meet established goals.
- Facilitate Group and Individual Activities: Facilitate and participate in group and individual activities that align with residents' treatment plans, promoting positive behavior and skill development.
- Model Appropriate Behavior: Model appropriate behavior and life skills, reinforcing positive behavior and redirecting negative behavior.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate and updated records of residents' progress, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with Treatment Team: Collaborate with other members of the treatment team, including clinicians, case managers, and support staff, to ensure residents receive comprehensive and effective care.
- Attend Trainings and Meetings: Attend and participate in trainings and meetings as required, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
- Prior Experience Working with Adolescents: Prior experience working with adolescents in a mental health or residential treatment setting (preferred but not required).
- Flexibility and Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings as needed.
- Background Checks and Drug Screenings: Ability to pass all required background checks and drug screenings.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of Adolescent Development: Understanding of adolescent development and common mental health disorders.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
