Job Summary

CMC - North America is seeking a skilled Steel Mill Operator to join our team. As a Steel Mill Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our steel production facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist maintenance personnel as needed
  • Participate in CMC's Safety Programs and uphold the CMC Safety Culture
  • Effectively communicate with others about production issues, concerns, and needs
  • Ensure equipment inspection reports are completed each shift
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping duties
  • Provide relief to overhead crane operators
  • Troubleshoot work-related problems using job knowledge and experience
  • Understand start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
  • Conduct operator checklists prior to operating cranes
  • Fully understand crane operations and functions

Requirements:

  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes, and mists
  • Basic computer skills
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Ability to learn quickly and multitask
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Some overtime will be required
  • Work on a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to operate an overhead crane and saws

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
