Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Optum. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Imaging Services: Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification on all images.
  • Diagnostic Procedures: Demonstrate competency performing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the operation of all related equipment.
  • Patient Care: Greet patients, obtain history, and enter information in the computer system.
  • Logistics: Maintain logs, process paperwork for biopsies, and utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain quality standards as it relates to HIPAA regulations and ensure the cleanliness of examination rooms.
  • Accreditation: Assist in the completion of the accreditation process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) every three years.
  • Professional Development: Maintain CPR certification, observe patient vital signs during examination, and provide instruction/mentoring to new hires.
  • Communication: Provide a positive patient experience, share information with patients, and ensure they are aware of follow-up steps and requirements.
  • Collaboration: Maintain communication with radiologists and other physicians, patients, and their families, and other persons.
  • Quality Control: Consistently submit images of diagnostic quality without recommendation of additional image acquisition, perform quality assurance on images and equipment, and demonstrate competency in utilizing systems.
  • Operational Efficiency: Contribute to efficient out-patient operations, maximizing the productivity of assigned modality.
  • Technical Accuracy: Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to radiologists, and communicate pertinent data to the person responsible for the care of patients following the procedure.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrate teamwork, interact in a positive manner with employees, and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Accountability: Meet or exceed deadlines, follow through, demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Professional Growth: Enhance professional growth and maintain certifications, registration, and active CME's through education programs, conferences, and workshops.
  • Patient Education: Acquire patients' chart date/requisition and review both to determine correct set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study, and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
  • Procedure Education: Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification: RDMS Certification.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
  • Skills: Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions, communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organization, and adequately use or learn to use the department's computerized system and its associated devices.
