Position Summary
The Registered Nurse in Cardiac Progressive Care plays a crucial role in delivering direct nursing care, adhering to established protocols and guidelines. Collaborating with patients, their families, and the healthcare team, the RN will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate comprehensive treatment strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proficiency in the nursing process for telemetry patients.
- Monitor and identify changes in patients' behavioral, neurological, and physiological conditions, taking appropriate actions as necessary.
- Administer medications and treatments, observing their effects on patients.
- Participate in the orientation and professional development of unit staff.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Educate patients and families based on individual needs.
Qualifications
- RN licensure in the State of Texas/Compact.
- BCLS certification required.
- ACLS certification required.
- Educational background: Associate's Degree or BSN.
Experience
- Preferred background in critical care and dysrhythmia recognition.
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation.
Skills and Abilities
- Previous experience in a medical nursing unit is advantageous.
- Basic English reading and writing skills are necessary for effective communication.
- Knowledge of body substance isolation protocols.
- Ability to assist in moving patients safely.
