Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for various aspects of financial management, including financial record keeping, financial reporting, tax preparation, auditing, and budgeting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial record keeping: Maintain a general ledger, record transactions, and reconcile bank statements.
- Financial reporting: Prepare financial statements, such as balance sheets and income statements, and present financial information to senior management.
- Tax preparation: Prepare tax documents and ensure compliance with IRS rules.
- Auditing: Complete audits and assist outside auditors and audit manager with annual audits.
- Accounts payable and receivable: Review and post revenue batches, manage accounts payable, and respond to questions about payment and expense coding.
- Budgeting and forecasting: Help develop annual operating budgets and performance projections.
- Analyzing: Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports. Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures. Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Communication: Handle communications with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Internal procedures: Assess internal procedures and recommend improvements.
- Confidentiality: Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Deadline management: Meet all reporting and processing deadlines.
Requirements:
- Commitment to Women In Need, Inc.'s mission, vision, and values.
- Minimum 2 years' accounting processing experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required. Master's degree in accounting and CPA preferred.
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization a plus.
- Strong analytic abilities.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Works well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of attention to detail and multi-tasking.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ownership and pride in work product.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Sage Intacct and MIP a plus.
