Medical Scribe Assistant

A Medical Scribe is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for documenting patient encounters in real-time. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Accompany physicians during patient visits to document assessment and exam information
- Accurately document patient history, complaints, physical exams, assessments, diagnostic results, medical procedures, treatment plans, and medical opinions of consultants
- Interact with physicians to capture accurate diagnoses, prescriptions, and patient instructions
- Communicate with other healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care
- Assist with obtaining lab and radiology results, scheduling tests and procedures, and coordinating referrals
- Understand patient flow and assist the care team in making patient visits as efficient as possible
- Perform various administrative tasks as requested by physicians
- Ensure compliance with national and local patient privacy laws, including HIPAA and HITECH
- Review and edit physician medical paperwork to ensure accuracy and completeness
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Bachelor's degree in a medical discipline (preferred)
- Prior experience in hospital scribing (desired)
- Accurate and rapid typing skills
- Experience with medical record software and hardware
- Excellent communication and linguistic skills
- Ability to calculate simple math and use computers
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities
- Charting ability and communication skills
- Critical thinking and multitasking abilities
- Interact comfortably with patients and stay organized
- Be flexible and adaptable, with a team player attitude
- EMR knowledge and medical terminology understanding
This role will be based in a controlled office environment, with minimal exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
