Position Overview

Title: Controls and Automation Specialist
Location: Kankakee, IL

Employment Type: Full-Time

Department: Electrical Engineering

YOUR ROLE WILL INCLUDE:
  • Assisting the Electrical Engineering department with project deliverables.
  • Providing electrical support including troubleshooting, project engineering, and management across all facilities.
  • Modernizing existing legacy systems in various plants to meet current standards.
  • Managing electrical projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and oversight of contractor work.
  • Estimating labor hours, planning work, scheduling, coordinating, and reporting.
  • Updating schematic diagrams in AutoCAD as necessary.
  • Programming automation and control systems while enhancing existing PLC programs, including servo and A/C drives.
  • Designing, testing, commissioning, and starting up new technologies while working with current equipment configurations.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel required.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite, including Project, for over 4 years.
  • Experience with electrical safety codes and their application in industrial wiring and power distribution for at least 4 years.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI applications (including RSlinx, RSlogix5, 500, 5000, & Factory Talk View) for over 4 years.
  • Experience in PLC & HMI systems design, programming, commissioning, and startup, including hardware selection and I/O panel layout for at least 4 years.
