Objective

The Plasma Collection Technician plays a crucial role in the precise and prompt collection, testing, and preservation of plasma sourced from donors. This position operates in compliance with EU Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines, ensuring familiarity with any updates to these protocols.
  2. Participates in Staff Meetings and other team discussions as necessary.
  3. Delivers exceptional customer service, aiming to achieve all production targets while addressing donor inquiries with accuracy and professionalism. Reports any processing flow concerns to the Supervisor.
  4. Maintains a clean, organized, and efficient workspace, ensuring that adequate operational supplies are readily available.
  5. Complies with all Health, Safety & Environmental regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  6. Prepares equipment by conducting performance qualifications/calibrations and confirming that necessary maintenance has been completed as per SOP.
  7. Ensures the integrity and confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  8. Responsible for aseptic sampling and sealing of plasma units, ensuring timely placement of units/samples into the freezer in accordance with SOP to maintain product quality.
  9. Ensures that only one plasma unit and its samples are labeled at a time, adhering to designated unidirectional flow areas for each task as outlined in SOP.
  10. Handles the removal of plasma inventory during shipping processes.
  11. Monitors freezer and refrigerator temperatures, promptly notifying relevant personnel if any equipment malfunctions.
  12. Answers phone calls, providing information or directing calls to the appropriate personnel as needed.
  13. May receive cross-training to support business needs.
  14. Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Experience or hobbies that demonstrate manual dexterity are preferred.

3. Conducts work in alignment with Company Core Values.

Working Conditions

  1. Regularly performs tasks while standing or walking.
  2. Must be comfortable working in proximity to human blood, with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and may be required to wear personal protective equipment.
  3. Should be capable of performing repetitive tasks as outlined in standard operating procedures.
  4. Frequently exposed to temperatures exceeding 30°C and may need to wear personal protective equipment.
  5. Regularly required to lift, push, and pull weights up to 25 pounds.
  6. May need to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  7. Required to communicate and interact effectively with employees and donors.
  8. Works in an environment with minimal distractions and limited human interaction while processing units.
