Job DescriptionAs a Microbiologist at ApTask, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our clients' products. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities- Compiling and interpreting results of microbiology and environmental monitoring tests and results.
- Maintaining, cleaning, and sterilizing laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Conducting chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses.
- Robustly understanding regulatory requirements and composing investigations for microbiology, environmental monitoring, and manufacturing.
- Writing technical reports and preparing graphs and charts to document experimental results.
- Performing water sampling, sterility testing of finished products, bioburden testing of raw materials, and bacterial endotoxin testing.
- Subculturing and characterizing microbial isolates using the Gram stain and differential tests.
- Performing environmental monitoring of laboratory areas and bacteriostasis/fungi stasis testing to validate test methods.
- Processing and incubating exposed biological indicators and incubating and reading media fills.
- Identifying micro-organisms by microscopic examination of physiological, morphological, and cultural characteristics.
- Receiving and preparing samples and equipment for testing.
- Incubating and examining tests, enumerating bacteria, and preparing shipments for outside laboratories.
- Understanding the science behind testing requirements and clearly communicating expectations.
- Detail-oriented to perform peer review of results, investigations, and protocols.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including incubators, autoclaves, ovens, and vacuum pumps.
- Maintaining current training status on equipment and procedures.
- Performing documentation per cGMP and preparing and assisting with preliminary and full investigations.
- Supporting R&D and Technical Services activities and assisting with FDA and customer audits.
- Assisting with and conducting studies as requested by the Lab Supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or Biological Sciences.
- 0-4 years of experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated intermediate mathematical ability.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Business computer literacy skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize workloads.
