Plumber - Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Plumber - Fitter to join our team at the Pennsylvania State University. As a key member of our Facilities and Business team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of plumbing and piping installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.

• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing and piping systems, including water, gas, and sewage lines.
• Perform inspections, maintenance, and housekeeping programs on tunnels, manholes, valve and meter boxes, septic tanks, cesspools, grease traps, and other areas.
• Operate various types of hand and power tools to cut, thread, bend, and join pipe.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, and work orders to plan and layout work in proper sequence.
• Detect unusual conditions and defective materials and report to supervisor.
• Maintain workshop and job area in clean, neat, and orderly condition.
• Protect surrounding property and furniture from damage during the process of work.
• Answer questions for and/or direct the work of apprentices and/or lower-grade employees as required.
• Operate a motor vehicle as required.

• Equivalent to a complete accredited, indentured apprenticeship or equivalent to high school plus a 2-year technical college education.
• Over 1 year up to and including 3 years of experience in plumbing and piping installations, repairs, and maintenance.
• Valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.
