POSITION OVERVIEW
The role of the Cost Analyst at Moltus Building Group is crucial for the accurate assessment and completion of project cost evaluations. Candidates should possess a solid background in preliminary cost analysis, self-directed work habits, and a comprehensive understanding of construction methodologies across multiple sectors. The ability to extract project requirements from limited bidding information is essential for success in this position. Key responsibilities include:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Interpret and analyze construction documents, including blueprints and specifications, to ascertain project objectives and requirements.
2. Manage time effectively while collaborating with the Estimating team.
3. Prioritize the acquisition of subcontractor proposals and ensure thorough evaluation of received bids.
4. Compile and present comprehensive estimates and submission documentation professionally.
AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
The Cost Analyst operates under the guidance of the Estimating Manager, holding the responsibility for the execution of assigned tasks. While delegation of certain tasks is permitted, ultimate accountability remains with the Cost Analyst.
PRIMARY DUTIES
The following duties are indicative of the role but are not exhaustive:
1. Generate detailed cost assessments by reviewing project documentation, including requests for proposals, plans, and specifications.
2. Formulate preliminary cost estimates with minimal subcontractor input, utilizing available design documents and bidding information.
3. Create tailored Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for specific projects.
4. Develop detailed scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers as necessary.
5. Prepare project timelines with contributions from subcontractors and suppliers.
6. Evaluate and standardize subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure comprehensive coverage and minimize scope discrepancies.
7. Analyze geotechnical and engineering data to identify potential project risks related to site conditions.
8. Collaborate with project engineers and stakeholders to identify additional risk factors and priorities for each project.
9. Maintain open communication with the Estimating Manager regarding critical project elements during the bidding process.
10. Complete necessary bid forms and documentation for client submission.
11. Engage with clients, architects, engineers, and local authorities to align project goals, timelines, permits, and costs.
12. Meet project deadlines with minimal oversight.
13. Conduct material and quantity takeoffs from project documentation.
14. Review project outcomes to identify lessons learned.
15. Collaborate with Project Management to ensure a seamless transition post-award and confirm a thorough handoff.
16. Document known challenges and potential risks associated with projects.
17. Participate in site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
18. Work alongside financial officers to comprehend tax implications and relevant entitlements.
