Job Summary

As a Radiology Technologist Associate at Atrium Health, you will play a vital role in facilitating patient care and treatment. Under the supervision of a radiology technologist, you will perform a variety of patient care duties and other professional activities to ensure seamless patient flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic diagnostic x-rays under the guidance of a radiology technologist.
  • Assist patients with questions and concerns about procedures, providing clear and concise information.
  • Prepare patients for exams and ensure their safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
  • Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner or authorized technologist.
  • Assist physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams, including procedures requiring the administration of contrast media.
  • Retrieve patient orders and requisitions, supporting administrative tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
  • Provide ancillary clinical support, including assisting patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals, and other needs as required.
  • Contribute to administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Physical Requirements

This role requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting are expected during normal operation. You may be required to stretch, bend, twist, squat, or kneel in the daily operation of the assigned clinical area. You will be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day, including walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, and being near moving equipment. Radiation safety guidelines, MRI safety, and infection control protocols must be followed to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation and ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field.
  • Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of a career in medical imaging.
  • Medical clerical skills are preferred.
