The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the internationally renowned Department of Urology. As the Chair of Urology, you will report to the Senior Vice Chancellor for the Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine, as well as to the President of the UPMC Health Services Division and the CEO of UPMC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the clinical, academic, and research activities of the Department of Urology.
  • Hold the Frederic N. Schwentker Endowed Chair.
  • Oversee Urology clinical services throughout the UPMC system, consisting of more than 40 hospitals, directly supervising 50 clinical faculty members at 21 clinical sites and 4 research faculty members.
  • Provide comprehensive care in every domain of urology, including urologic oncology, pediatric urology, endourology and stone disease management, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, neurology, infertility and andrology, reconstruction, and general urology.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Department's research portfolio, which includes 30 federally funded grants (NIH, DOD, DARPA).
  • Lead and recruit a diverse workforce, with a focus on attracting and retaining top talent in the field of urology.
  • Collaborate with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC to advance the mission of the Department and the institution.

Requirements:

  • Distinguished record in academic urology, commensurate with appointment as a tenured full professor.
  • Significant administrative experience, with a proven track record of leadership and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and recruit a diverse workforce.
  • Board certification in urology (BC/BE) and qualified for medical licensure in Pennsylvania.
