Job Summary

The Ophthalmic Technician plays a vital role in the eye care team at North Star Health, providing essential support to Optometrists in preparing patients for examinations, performing vision screenings, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ophthalmology examinations by dilating pupils, identifying changes in visual acuity, and obtaining extraocular pressure.
  • Perform complete ophthalmic history and preliminary exams, sub-specialty tests, and interviews to obtain and record medical history within the electronic health record.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
  • Set up and prep for minor procedures, maintain stock of materials for exam rooms and procedures, and follow industry and clinic standards for sterilization of instruments.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Proficiency in computers
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • One year of previous ophthalmic technician experience (preferred)
  • Experience with electronic health records (preferred)
