The Emerging Concepts and Technologies (ECT) division at Sierra Nevada Corporation serves as a pioneering technology incubator. In this role, you will collaborate with a compact, multi-disciplinary team to design, model, construct, test, and implement solutions that address customer operational requirements and challenges.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) sector provides cost-effective, comprehensive command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection, and security solutions globally. The MST team boasts a rich history of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and various commercial and international clients, with extensive experience in platform operations, engineering, and full lifecycle management across multiple domains – air, land, sea, space, and cyber.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary development team to swiftly address customer challenges.
  • Gather, derive, document, and maintain hardware, software, and/or system requirements to fulfill internal or external customer specifications.
  • Assist in systems integration efforts.
  • Document, plan, manage, and execute testing on systems and subsystems to validate requirements.
  • Provide data and materials to support both internal and external customer meetings.
  • Analyze, design, simulate, and implement algorithms using hardware descriptor languages (HDL) such as VHDL and Verilog, based on customer requirements and/or MATLAB models.
  • Implement and validate signal processing concepts including FFTs, channelizers, digital filters, digital modulation, and adaptive processing.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering or a related field, with typically 2 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Practical understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, systems design, integration, technical risk management, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.
  • Experience in Radio Frequency (RF) hardware development and testing.
  • Typically 2 or more years of relevant experience in developing DSP software systems, preferably in a military context.
  • Familiarity with Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and other scripting languages commonly used in DSP systems.
  • Experience with signal processing libraries and frameworks, including Redhawk, GNU Radio, Intel primitives (IPP), Liquid DSP, FFTW, and GNU scientific libraries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools like DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, and MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, including requirements management and Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense sector.
  • Exposure to baseline definition and maturation in complex development environments, including high-impact trade studies.
  • Understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM).
  • Experience with MOSA/SOSA standards.
  • Familiarity with standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash.
  • Knowledge of FPGA and ARM processors and memory access (e.g., DMA).
  • Experience with RF systems, including signal generators, amplifiers, filters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Familiarity with Signals Detection, ISR, ELINT, or ESM.
