Role Summary

The Intramurals Operations Assistant is responsible for overseeing participants and spectators in intramural sports events. This role involves enforcing policies and rules of the games, making on-site decisions, and resolving conflicts to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all involved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify student IDs and team rosters upon arrival using the appropriate systems.
  • Educate participants on and enforce the rules and regulations of intramural sports.
  • Prepare necessary documentation and equipment to facilitate smooth and safe competitions.
  • Maintain accurate records related to eligibility, sportsmanship, results, and nightly reports.
  • Assist in the upkeep and inventory management of intramural sports equipment.
  • Address and resolve conflicts among participants effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a student at Missouri Western State University.
  • Currently pursuing a degree.
  • Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.0.
  • Enrolled at least part-time.
  • Eligibility for Federal Work Study may be required.
  • Ability to lift or push a minimum of 45 pounds.
  • Must be capable of asserting authority among peers and community members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Majors in Exercise Science, Recreation, or Sports Management.
  • Strong background in health, fitness, nutrition, or management.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Dependable and accountable in all responsibilities.
  • Ability to assert authority effectively.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
