Position Overview:

Arcadis is in search of a Civil Engineer specializing in water and wastewater systems to enhance our Resilience Water division in Western NY. This role may be associated with our Buffalo or Rochester office locations.

In this capacity, you will collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to deepen your expertise and technical acumen in the design and engineering of water and wastewater treatment facilities. Your contributions will be essential to our team, supporting our established reputation for excellence in client management and project execution within the municipal water and wastewater sector of the region.

Key Responsibilities:

This position involves supporting projects and clients throughout the planning, design, and construction stages of water and wastewater treatment facilities, stormwater management systems, distribution and collection networks, and pumping stations. Your duties will include the development of construction documentation, technical specifications, and providing engineering support during the construction phase.

Additional responsibilities encompass:

  • Conducting detailed engineering calculations and analyses
  • Completing design assignments within established budgets and timelines
  • Drafting scopes of work, cost assessments, and other project-related documentation
  • Assisting in the development of junior engineers through mentorship
  • Ensuring adherence to all Arcadis practices, quality standards, and safety protocols
  • Traveling for project site evaluations, inspections, and client consultations as necessary
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the water and wastewater sector
Desired Skills and Attributes:
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse project teams locally and across remote locations
  • Experience in producing project drawings, technical specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
  • Project experience in the design and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities, particularly in expansion, rehabilitation, and retrofitting
  • Leadership capabilities, including managing project delivery expectations and mentoring
  • Experience or interest in client-facing roles, including proposal preparation and client relationship management
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or an MBA
  • EIT Certification or the ability to obtain it within six months
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience
  • Active involvement in regional or national professional organizations
