Role of the Campus Safety & Security Officer:
As a Campus Safety & Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the entire Willamette View community, which includes employees, residents, visitors, and all resources within your designated area. Working with minimal supervision and under management guidance, you are expected to align your actions with the mission, goals, plans, policies, and unique culture of Willamette View.
For candidates who do not currently possess a DPSST Unarmed Private Security Professional and/or CPR/First Aid/BLS certifications, we provide these training courses at no cost upon hiring.
Uniforms, including shirts, pants, jackets, and necessary equipment, will be supplied by the department at no expense to the employee.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct vehicle and foot patrols of buildings and properties, providing traditional security functions such as safety escorts, trespassing checks, and physical security assessments.
- Coordinate responses from fire, EMS, and law enforcement to campus incidents.
- Manage emergency after-hours responses from on-call maintenance as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire. A completed High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce detailed and accurate incident reports.
- Once trained and certified, capable of effectively responding to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, and coordinating appropriate responses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional training, education, or military experience beyond high school is advantageous.
- Proven success in managing challenging individuals, particularly those in crisis or with cognitive issues.
- Maintain a valid driver's license with a driving record that reflects safe practices and respect for the law.
