Senior Animal Trainer

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Animal Trainer to join our team at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals. As a key member of our behavior department, you will work closely with boarded behavior clinicians to develop and implement effective training programs for animals with behavioral issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement behavior modification plans for animals, ensuring consistency and accuracy in training.
- Teach clients scientifically-based methods, including positive reinforcement training, environmental enrichment, and desensitization/counterconditioning.
- Assist clients in understanding their pets and reducing fear, anxiety, stress, and conflict through behavioral therapy techniques.
- Collaborate with clinicians to implement training programs and provide ongoing support to clients.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree with a minimum of two years of specialization in behavior modification, with a focus on ethical handling and animal welfare.
- Strong animal handling skills and demonstrated excellence in training outcomes.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Meet the physical demands of the position, including prolonged standing and kneeling, lifting and restraining animals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more of the following training certifications: KPA-CTP.
