Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maritime Logistics Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our Engineering and Test Group, you will leverage advanced analysis techniques and emerging technologies to revolutionize the US Navy's logistics operations and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize advanced analysis techniques and algorithms to support novel distribution and supply-chain network studies, and develop strategies to achieve operational availability.
  • Design at-sea experiments and field tests, including overseeing Navy Platform participation and determining systems to be developed, integrated, and transported to Navy test sites.
  • Work with APL procurements and subcontracting office to secure local supplies and vessel rentals as needed.
  • Establish material procurement, staging, assembly, and test work flows to manage complex prototype assemblies.
  • Lead logistics activities with internal and external teams, including both government and private industry partners.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
  • Professional experience with Department of Defense (DoD) logistics and acquisition programs and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong interpersonal, speaking, and technical writing skills.
  • Strong initiative, self-motivation, and flexibility, with a desire to drive creative solutions in all areas of infrastructure and logistics.
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics or supply chain management.
  • Experience working with various military services to validate ILS requirements and implement logistics support plans to meet requirements.
  • Logistics or Program Management certification.
  • Familiarity with reliability, maintainability, and logistics requirements as documented in DoDI, DoDD, and NAVINST 5000.2.
  • Ability to read/interpret CAD/mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in risk assessment/risk management practices.
  • Experience as a project lead.
  • Active Top Secret level clearance.
