Overview

The Assistant Store Manager position is an exciting opportunity to join the DSW team and contribute to delivering exceptional customer experiences. As a key member of the store leadership team, you will be responsible for driving sales growth, maintaining high store standards, and leading a team of associates to achieve store goals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Spearhead initiatives to elevate the in-store experience, focusing on customer service excellence, sales floor presentation, and inventory management.
  2. Maintain accurate records of store operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth, leveraging data insights and market trends to inform decision-making.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with store associates, providing coaching, guidance, and development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.
  5. Collaborate with the Store Manager and other leaders to ensure seamless store operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and visual merchandising.
  6. Support the Store Manager in overseeing all aspects of store operations, including human resources, inventory control, and facility maintenance.
  7. Promote a culture of safety and respect within the store, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment for all associates.
  8. Develop and execute plans to optimize inventory levels, minimizing waste and excess stock while maintaining an attractive and engaging store environment.
  9. Act as a liaison between the store and distribution center, ensuring timely receipt and processing of merchandise shipments.
  10. Identify and capitalize on opportunities to improve store processes and efficiency, recommending changes to the Store Manager and other leaders as needed.
  11. Engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences, using this insight to inform product offerings and in-store experiences.
  12. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales growth, customer satisfaction, and associate engagement.
  13. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging associates to share ideas and suggestions for enhancing the store experience.
  14. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, applying this knowledge to drive business results and improve store operations.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of retail experience, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth, improve store operations, and build strong teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including store associates, district managers, and corporate partners.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
