POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver expert emergency medical care in pre-hospital environments. This includes treating and transporting individuals who are ill or injured, while upholding the mission, vision, and quality standards of Houston Healthcare.
EDUCATION & TRAINING: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, along with the successful completion of a vocational training program for Paramedics.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience is required.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Applicants must hold a current Paramedic certification from Georgia, a valid Georgia driver's license, and current certifications in AHA BLS and AHA ACLS. Additionally, AHA PALS certification must be obtained within nine (9) months of employment, along with CPT training. NIHSS certification must be acquired within three (3) months of hire.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Candidates should demonstrate the physical capability to perform the essential functions of the role, as verified by a physical agility assessment. Effective communication skills in both oral and written English are essential, along with the ability to follow instructions accurately. The ability to foster and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and management is crucial. Candidates must be equipped to handle prolonged work under challenging emergency conditions that may involve significant physical and mental stress. Independent judgment and clear thinking in both routine and non-routine scenarios are vital. Proficiency in using diagnostic and patient care equipment, as well as personal protective gear, is required.
Successful candidates will undergo criminal background checks and drug screenings.
