We are seeking a highly qualified Research Assistant Professor to join our team at Prairie View A&M University. As a Research Assistant Professor, you will be responsible for developing an active research program in small ruminant biosecurity with an emphasis in immunology.
Key Responsibilities- Conceptualize, develop, and maintain an independent program of research in the Animal Sciences with emphasis on biosecurity and immunology.
- Direct ongoing laboratory work; supervise and guide specific activities of research support personnel; and conduct regular laboratory meetings and participate in program development and program enhancement.
- Participate in interdisciplinary research and collaborate with other scientists constituting the animal systems group; and write and publish research reports documenting laboratory activities and findings; engage in grantsmanship to increase external support for programmatic activities.
- Participate in professional/scientific meetings and disseminate research to various stakeholders and observe University and administrative policies to ensure full compliance with mandated training and implementation of the institutional program for animal care and use.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. in an applicable field or discipline.
- Four (4) years or more of related experience.
- Knowledge of appropriate laboratory and technical equipment.
- Knowledge of statistical analyses and statistical analyses software.
- Knowledge of research in practical and/or basic sciences and scientific publications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience and/or strong interest in the area of reproductive immunology.
- Commitment to student development.
- Interest in multidisciplinary research and collaborations as well as in outreach/extension.
