The Goshen Community Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse Substitute to join our team. As a School Nurse Substitute, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Health Services Management: Organize, administer, and manage school health services in the assigned school, working closely with the Health Services Coordinator.
- Health Policy Implementation: Implement school health policies, communicable disease control, first aid measures, emergency preparedness, and standing orders in the assigned school.
- Health Counseling: Offer health counseling to students, parents, and staff, making referrals to community resources when necessary.
- Health Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and comprehensive health records.
- Reporting and Compliance: File all mandated State and Federal reports as required.
- Student Health Monitoring: Monitor student compliance with state-mandated immunization requirements.
- Special Programs: Arrange and conduct special programs in collaboration with the Elkhart County Health Department.
- Emergency Response: Provide emergency care and instruct others on follow-up care.
- Student Support: Monitor students with special health needs to ensure their inclusion in the school setting, attending IEP meetings as necessary.
- Individual Health Plans: Formulate, revise, and implement all Individual Health Plans.
- Health Education: Assist instructional staff with the health education program.
- Guidance Support: Assist guidance staff with programming as needed.
- Health Team Coordination: Coordinate the School Health Team related to the Coordinated School Health Program and participate in the District Coordinated School Health Committee, as directed by the Health Services Coordinator.
- Confidentiality and Compliance: Uphold regulations and laws related to confidentiality, child abuse and neglect, and other health-related requirements.
- Crisis Prevention: Participate in the school Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) team, as determined by the principal and/or the Health Services Coordinator.
- Certifications and Licenses: Board-certified graduate of a licensed registered nurse program, current Indiana nursing license, and current certificate in CPR/AED.
- Experience: Ideally, 2-3 years of experience as a registered nurse in a related nursing field.
- Qualifications: Registered Nurse with pediatric experience, including adolescents; ability to create partnerships with teachers, students, parents, and community; high personal integrity and ethics; and emergency nursing and/or public health nursing experience.
