Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a highly skilled professional who, through extensive clinical experience and advanced education, has developed expertise in a specialized area of patient care. The APN exemplifies the advanced knowledge, skills, and credentials necessary to operate in an advanced practice nursing role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations, including the collection of clinical data such as vital signs and specimens.
2. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose medical conditions, and administer appropriate treatments, including minor surgical procedures.
3. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver family-centered care tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
4. Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring effective management of patients with specialized health requirements.
5. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and coding for billing purposes, while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
6. Act as a resource and leader during clinical shifts, facilitating efficient patient processing and discharge.
7. Mentor new staff and physician assistant students, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program is required.
- Current NP licensure and certifications in ACLS, BLS, and ATLS are mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
Physical Demands:
- The role requires constant standing, walking, and talking, with occasional lifting and climbing.
