Role Overview:
As a Ground Service Equipment Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our ground operations. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and repair various types of ground support equipment, contributing to the overall efficiency of our services.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of ground support equipment, including tugs, belt loaders, and deicing machinery.
- Travel to various locations as needed to perform equipment repairs.
- Prepare and paint equipment to ensure optimal performance and appearance.
- Conduct ramp checks to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in training apprentices and other team members.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support operational needs.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will embody SkyWest's core values, particularly in areas of Health and Safety, Quality Service, Reliability, and Teamwork. Additionally, you should possess:
- A positive attitude, self-motivation, and a keen attention to detail.
- At least one year of experience or training related to automotive or ground service equipment.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- A valid, unrestricted state-issued driver's license.
Essential Tools:
As a Ground Service Equipment Technician, you will be required to maintain a basic tool set, which includes:
- Standard and metric sockets and wrenches.
- Impact guns and various hand tools.
- Automotive meters and wire tools.
Preferred Skills:
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous:
- ASE Certifications in relevant areas.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Formal automotive training.
Physical Requirements:
Applicants should be prepared for:
- Travel as necessary, including overnight trips.
- The ability to lift 50+ pounds.
- Working in outdoor conditions, including inclement weather.
