Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate ED Tech Assistant to join our team at MercyOne. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will provide direct patient care, perform phlebotomy functions, EKGs, and assistive skills to patients of all ages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Triage Nursing in meeting the needs of individuals in the waiting area, including taking vitals, rooming patients, and helping patients exit their vehicles.
  • Complete daily stocking in assigned areas.
  • Assist RNs with the arrival of EMS patients.
  • Transport patients to other departments within the hospital.
  • Clean patient rooms, including changing linens, disposing of used equipment and disposable items, and wiping down counters and sinks.
  • Round hourly on patients to meet their needs or communicate them to RNs.
  • Perform or assist patients with personal hygiene tasks, such as oral care, dressing/undressing, and elimination needs.
  • Collect and accurately label various specimens, including urine and venous blood specimens.
  • Perform tasks such as positioning and maintaining patient alignment, measuring and recording vital signs, and measuring and recording height and weight as directed.
  • Assist with post-mortem care as directed by clinical staff.
Requirements
  • Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomist, EMT-B, Paramedic, Certified Medical Assistant, or Licensed Practicing Nurse.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within 6 weeks of hire from an acceptable credentialing body.
