Regional Water Sustainability Coordinator

Job Overview
This role will play a crucial part in the implementation of sustainable water management practices for small public water systems and private wells in compliance with federal and local regulations. The Regional Water Sustainability Coordinator will work closely with system operators, board members, community leaders, and homeowners to ensure that these systems are well-maintained and meet necessary quality standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver training and technical assistance programs to rural water and wastewater systems, private well owners, and decentralized wastewater systems, collaborating with state and federal agencies as needed.
- Act as a liaison between RCAP Solutions and its national network's personnel, facilitating communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify areas requiring improvement and develop targeted strategies for providing support.
- Develop and adapt educational materials, conducting face-to-face trainings for managers of treatment works, decentralized systems, small public water systems, and private well owners to enhance their capacity-building skills.
- Collaborate with primary agencies and regional EPA officials to prioritize needs and deliver effective training sessions, making formal presentations in group settings and providing on-site technical assistance.
- Serve as a team member supporting the objectives of the Community Resources division and take on additional duties assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology, Planning, Public Health, or a related field, with professional engineering or high-level certified water operator credentials preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in water and wastewater, project planning, community development, infrastructure financing, or a related field, with a strong background in State, RD, and EPA capacity building, funding, and compliance work.
- Drinking water operators' license and/or wastewater license desired; Registered Sanitarian/Registered Environmental Health Specialist or equivalent experience also considered.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, handling sensitive situations with discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
- A valid Driver's license is required, along with the ability to travel to various locations within the region as needed.
Compensation Package
- $73,000 - $93,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- An attractive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, life insurance, flexible spending account, health savings account, competitive vacation and sick time, 14 paid holidays, and a 403(b) plan with RCAP contribution and match after one year of service.
Work Environment
This position involves travel, which may require overnight stays, evening meetings, and occasional weekend travel days. Although it is a home office position, it is preferred that the Regional Water Sustainability Coordinator live in the region they're hired to represent, with variances made on an individual basis if necessary.
