Culinary Specialist

Oxford Springs Durant is seeking a skilled Cook to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing delicious and nutritious meals for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare meals according to our menu, using recipes provided to ensure consistency and quality.
2. Communicate with residents to understand their dietary needs and preferences.
3. Work with our servers to ensure meals are presented and served efficiently.
4. Monitor food temperatures and log them at each meal.

General Kitchen Management

1. Ensure the kitchen and food preparation areas are clean and meet regulatory standards.
2. Monitor kitchen equipment to ensure they are in good working order and meet regulatory standards.
3. Label, date, and store food and supplies properly.
4. Maintain meal service records as required.
5. Assist with kitchen operations, including assigning tasks and responsibilities for additional team members.
6. Partner with the Dining Services Director to enhance the dining experience for residents.

Requirements

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Food Handlers certification.
3. One year of experience providing leadership in a food service setting.
4. Two or more years preparing meals for large groups.
5. Working knowledge of dietary requirements for seniors.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Additional culinary training.
2. Nutrition certification and/or training.

Physical Working Requirements

1. Ability to travel using personal vehicle, including at night.
2. Able to stand for prolonged periods while preparing meals and serving residents.
3. Able to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
4. Able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and/or weekends.
5. Team Member is subject to outside environment conditions occasionally, inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
