Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Archaeologist to join our team in Alpharetta, GA. As a Project Archaeologist, you will be responsible for completing various types of reports, such as Management Summaries, Archaeological Resource Identification/Survey Reports at the Phase I, II, and III level of investigation, Assessment of Effects, historic contexts, etc. for a variety of clients in the transportation, energy, land development, and municipal sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Section 106 and/or due diligence assessments for infrastructure and energy projects, as required, including fieldwork/survey, archaeological resource identification and evaluation, and project effects assessment.
  • Complete or assist with additional Section 106 tasks, including leading or assisting with consultation and project mitigation.
  • Conduct artifact analysis and curation efforts.
  • Complete other archaeology-related tasks as needed.
  • Manage the performance of individual projects and coordinate with a variety of colleagues, clients, agencies, and the public.
  • Maintain effective and successful communication with project team, co-workers, and clients.
  • Assist in business development and marketing efforts, focusing on the development of NV5's archaeological practice in the Southeastern United States.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
  • Current standing member of the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) or qualified archaeologist under the Secretary of the Interiors Professional Qualifications for Archaeology (36 Code of Federal Regulations, CFR Part 61).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS software.
  • Proficiency in utilization of GPS equipment to assist with site boundary delineations.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid drivers license prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as an archaeological field director or project manager.
  • Experience in Southeast U.S.
  • DOT and/or energy-related experience.
  • Experience in conducting Native American consultation.
