Position Overview

As a Certified Medical Assistant at Vergence, you will play a vital role in delivering quality healthcare services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Patient Interaction: Manage tasks related to walk-in patients, including administering tests, immunizations, and lead screenings.
  • Clinical Assessments: Conduct thorough patient evaluations, monitor vital signs, collect specimens for diagnostic testing, and perform laboratory work as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Physician Support: Assist medical professionals by preparing examination rooms with necessary equipment, providing lab results, and guiding patients on treatment and medication protocols.
  • Patient Communication: Reach out to patients to relay lab results and address inquiries within your professional scope.
  • Medication Management: Prepare and dispense medications, including administering injections as required.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain and manage the inventory of medical supplies, ensuring timely ordering and restocking.
  • Immunization Administration: Administer age-appropriate immunizations, keeping accurate records and updating computer systems accordingly.
  • Coordination with External Entities: Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and medical facilities to issue necessary codes, obtain Medicaid approvals, and relay prescription information.
  • Patient Education: Develop and prepare educational materials to enhance patient understanding of their health.
  • Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a medical assistant in Indiana.
  • Knowledge of health and social services available to the community, with the ability to coordinate services and referrals effectively.
  • Familiarity with standard office practices, basic computer skills, and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with the ability to prepare necessary reports.
  • Capability to operate standard office equipment and medical devices, including sterilizers.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with a sensitivity to professional ethics and cultural diversity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of department information in compliance with state regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Willingness to occasionally work extended hours and travel for professional development.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
