About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our Samaritan Laboratory Team. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate collection and processing of patient specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture, arterial puncture, heel stick, or capillary puncture techniques.
  • Receive and process specimens from clients, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  • Inventory and order supplies as needed, checking expiration dates and submitting requisitions for supply orders.
  • Prepare and update phlebotomy procedures annually, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Rotate among different Samaritan Healthcare facilities as needed, adapting to changing shift and hour requirements.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to stay current with industry trends.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by following security and safety protocols, understanding MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting, and body mechanics.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certificate of completion of coursework from an accredited Phlebotomy education program preferred, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Must obtain Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Minimum of one (1) year hospital experience preferred.
  • Experience with computers (MS Word, Excel) and EPIC LIS program preferred.
  • Current CPR certification - Healthcare Provider (HCP) level.
